Our Merlot is grown unirrigated on a perched terrace of fertile red loam which this variety loves. Lifted blackcurrant and ripe plums greet the nose with dark chocolate, mint and toasty oak being detected.
The palate shows ripe berry fruit, attractive herbal overtones, charry oak and plenty of firm tannin.Drink 1 to 5 years for optimal tannin development.

| | | | Continuing the tradition of succulent and perfumed Merlot from the magnificent Porepunkah vineyard, the 2006 Merlot is a lovely creature. Delightful floral notes of violets, blackcurrent and blackberry are balanced by warm chocolaty tones of fruitcake and vanilla. Over this, an earthy, truffle-like influence adds complexity and interest.

| | An attractive, dark berry fruit driven palate with fine, integrated oak and lingering flavours. A generous, sweet, even chocolatey mid-palate is set off beautifully by ripe, refined tannins.

| | Perfumed, subtle and yet powerful. My thoughts would be like dishes of braised pheasant, duck, venison or squab. A casoulet would be good too. But seriously, this is a subtle red wine that will marry well with most meat dishes.
