When Janelle Boynton (nee Marsden) moved from St Kilda to Porepunkah neither herself nor Kel imagined really how far they, together, as a team would develop the winery.

Despite her transformation as urban chic St Kilda Project Manager, to now a mother of two young children and a busy hands on role in the winery and regional tourism sector. Janelle has brought a new commercial acumen to the Boynton establishment.

Born in Wangaratta and studied at Deakin University and then went on to complete an honours in Italy and Masters of Architecture, Janelle and Kel affectingly refer to themselves as “the winemaker that builds and the Architect who drinks”.

During 2006 Janelle purchased the 50% of the winery that Kel had sold to business partners a few years before and now between the two of them Janelle does the “inside jobs” – Marketing, Sales, Finance and HR and Kel the “outside jobs” – Viticulture and Winemaking.

She is a strong networker and excellent communicator with a focus on collaboration and inspiring stakeholders to work towards a vision.

She was instrumental in the rebranding of the winery FEATHERTOP label after the 2003 bushfires achieving a $300,000 turnaround from loss to profit making venture.

Her previous achievements included project management of many State & Local Government Architectural projects including the Wodonga City Council Public Library and Arts Space and La Trobe University Soccer Pavilion.

Janelle is a leader and has many interests with her love of the outdoors, art and great food and wine.

Janelle is Chairperson of North East Valleys Food and Wine and committee member of the Victorian Governments Ministerial Advisory Council for food and wine tourism as well as the North East Food Cluster.

Adding to Janelle's list of involvments she was appointed to the Victorian Tourism Board in July 2008.

She is also an active member of her local community helping with charity functions & various not for profit events.

Janelle and her husband Kel enjoy travel and experiencing the many adventures Victoria has to offer with their 2 children, Boston and Zara Lily.
